Villa Monteoriolo
(Chianti)

|
Villa Monteoriolo was built in the 15th century on the top of a hill dominating the surrounding countryside of the Chianti area and the valley of Florence. During the period of the Renaissance, the villa's owners were the Gherardini family to which the subject of Leonardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa' belonged. Located in the area of Impruneta, a Chianti village famous for its hand made 'terracotta', the villa is approximately 7kms from Florence, with easy access to the city by car or public transport running every 30 minutes. Surrounded by a typical Tuscan landscape of olive trees and vineyards, the villa has its own production of extra virgin olive oil and offers wonderful moments of relaxation on the terrace, in the gardens or by the pool. The main villa, with its large frescoed halls, may be used for conferences and parties. Cooking lessons and meals are available on request, and guided tours can be arranged.
